Tablet Combinations

Tablets as combo glue

Tablets are Sephiria’s second half of build craft. Where artifacts bring chunky effects and awkward footprints, tablets (~70 in 1.0) supply adjacency rules: place the right tablet beside the right artifact tiles and you unlock bonus procs, stat floors, or Miracle synergies. Without tablets, even legendary artifacts underperform; with them, commons clear Hard Mode chapters.

This guide documents combination patterns, not every duplicate stat stick. Pair it with Inventory Grid for Q/E preview workflow and Weapon Types for branch-specific tags.

How adjacency works

Most tablets check orthogonal neighbors (up/down/left/right) unless a rare tablet specifies diagonal rules. When neighbors share a tag — weapon family, element, proc type — the tablet activates. Activation may be:

  • Passive stat bump — always on while placed.
  • Triggered proc — on hit, on kill, on parry from Controls.
  • Miracle modifier — cooldown or damage amp from Miracles & Potions.

Use Q/E preview to highlight eligible neighbors before locking. One wrong rotation breaks the entire line.

Core combination templates

Corner anchor

Place a 2x2 artifact block in a corner, flank with L-shaped tablets on two sides. Works for sustain lines (heal on proc) when mid-grid space is tight.

Best for: Sword & Shield, Greatsword players learning grid craft.

Straight rail

Line three single-width artifacts horizontally; sandwich with tablets above and below. Maximizes one weapon tag across multiple pieces.

Best for: Dagger and Katana on-hit chains.

T-hub

Central artifact with cross tablets on four sides — hard to assemble but powers Miracle lines for Staff and elemental Hard Mode setups.

Best for: Staff/Magic with inscription cooldown nodes from Destiny Inscription.

Side Bag bridge

Store a tablet in Side Bag until the matching artifact appears; swap both in one room transition. Prevents premature dead cells documented on Inventory Grid.

Best for: Crossbow players kiting for specific tag drops.

Tag families to combine

MiracleCooldown/damageStaff or hybrid actives
SustainHeal/shieldAny long fight build

Mix one primary tag line and one utility line per run. Triple-stacking identical proc types hits diminishing returns faster than spreading bonuses.

Weapon-specific combination notes

Sword & Shield

Combine on-parry tablets with stagger artifacts. Parry windows from Controls trigger procs other branches cannot access safely.

Greatsword

Slow swings want on-kill or opening hit tablets — bonuses that frontload damage before enemies telegraph again.

Dagger

Stack on-hit rails; avoid wide artifacts that block tablet rails.

Katana / Blade

Parry-trigger tablets plus combo extend artifacts. High skill ceiling; see Tier List for competitive standings.

Crossbow

Prefer tablets that buff crit at range or trap placement artifacts. Kiting paths must not break adjacency — plan corners early.

Staff / Magic

Miracle modifier tablets are premium. Pair with cooldown inscription and Companion Build co-op stagger roles.

Sample progression by chapter

Chapter 1–2: one corner sustain combo — stay alive while learning telegraphs.

Chapter 3–4: commit primary weapon tag rail + one Miracle tablet if drops allow.

Chapter 5–6: boss-specific tech — swap Side Bag tablets before Chapter 6 Final Boss.

Hard Mode: elemental tablets layered on existing rails; do not rebuild from scratch mid-campaign.

Co-op combination strategy

In online co-op, call tablet tags aloud:

  • “Fire rail top-left — do not take single fire tablets.”
  • “Need parry tablet for elite room six.”

Shared visibility does not shared placement. Four players chasing the same tablet tag wastes drops.

When to break a combo

Break and rebuild when:

  • A new artifact completes a strictly better rail with fewer dead cells.
  • You pivot inscription to a new branch — rare but costly; see Destiny Inscription.
  • Hard Mode modifier week demands elemental swap from Hard Mode guide.

Do not break combos for +1% stat upgrades — opportunity cost exceeds gain.

Tracking combinations

Maintain a personal note list or use Destiny Checklist for inscription that unlocks grid QoL. When Version 1.0 patches adjust tablet counts, re-verify favorite rails on a normal run before Hard Mode.

Tablet combinations are Sephiria’s quiet skill ceiling. Learn three templates, adapt tags to your weapon, and your grid stops feeling random — even when the roguelite dice disagree.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do tablet combinations work in Sephiria?

Tablets activate when placed adjacent to artifacts sharing matching tags — weapon type, element, or proc family — boosting stats or triggering effects.

How many tablets are in Sephiria 1.0?

Roughly 70 tablets interact with about 300 artifacts on the inventory grid via adjacency rules.

What is the best tablet combo for beginners?

A corner sustain combo with heal or shield procs forgives telegraph mistakes while you learn Q/E preview on the Inventory Grid guide.

Can I combine tablets from different elements?

Yes, but focus one primary tag line plus one utility line. Mixing too many proc types dilutes adjacency payoffs.
