Sephiria Artifacts Guide
~300 grid pieces that define your run — shapes, tags, and proc logic for 1.0.
What artifacts are
Artifacts are Sephiria’s primary run loot — roughly 300 entries in 1.0 — each occupying a shaped footprint on the inventory grid. They grant passive stats, triggered procs, or conditional bursts keyed to tags like weapon branch, element, on-hit, on-parry, or Miracle synergy. Artifacts reset when a run ends; only the knowledge of good combinations persists.
Artifacts never work alone at peak power. Tablets (~70 types) buff adjacent artifact tiles when tags align. Miracles & Potions add actives. Destiny Inscription raises your baseline so artifacts spike instead of carry.
Rarity versus shape
Higher rarity often means stronger numbers, but footprint efficiency beats rarity when tablets need adjacency:
- A common 1x2 line completing a proc rail outvalues a legendary T-shape isolating three dead cells.
- Preview every pickup with Q/E before placement — see Controls.
- Side Bag (1.0) holds boss tech pieces; see Version 1.0.
When two artifacts tie on power, pick the one that preserves tablet combinations corners.
Tag families
Artifacts roll tags that tablets read:
| Tag type | Example effect | Branch bias |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Bonus damage for Sword, Crossbow, etc. | Matching Weapon Types |
| Element | Fire, ice, lightning, poison synergy | Hard Mode prep |
| On-hit | Stacks on attack speed weapons | Dagger, Katana |
| On-parry | Triggers after RMB parry | Sword & Shield, Katana |
| On-kill | Explosions after Greatsword cleaves | Greatsword |
| Miracle | Cooldown or damage amp | Staff / Magic |
| Sustain | Heal/shield procs | All branches learning chapters |
Build one primary tag line per run. Rainbow grids look pretty in UI and fail DPS checks silently.
Drop behavior across chapters
Early chapters favor generic sustain artifacts teaching grid craft. Mid chapters introduce branch-specific tags matching your equipped weapon upgrades (200+ per branch). Late chapters and Hard Mode skew elemental and Miracle synergy pieces.
Boss kills — especially the Chapter 6 Final Boss — often drop high-impact artifacts worth Side Bag prep before engagement.
Grid placement rules of thumb
- Never auto-place without Q/E preview.
- Hold two cells for expected tablet drops.
- Rebuild willingly between rooms if a new piece completes a superior rail.
- Track dead cells — more than two means consider run reset from Getting Started advice.
- Co-op callouts — announce shape needs in co-op before grabbing shared drops.
Artifact synergies by weapon
Sword & Shield
Prioritize on-parry and stagger setup artifacts feeding party DPS in Companion Build comps.
Greatsword
Opening hit and on-kill explosions; avoid artifacts requiring long channel if you cannot read telegraphs.
Dagger
Compact on-hit pieces; wide footprints are traps.
Katana
Parry-trigger chains — high reward if Controls mastered.
Crossbow
Range crit and trap artifacts; kiting paths must preserve adjacency.
Staff
Miracle amplifiers and elemental coverage for support roles.
Consult Tier List for branch priority, not artifact priority.
Artifacts and inscription
Inscription multiplies artifact proc value — extra crit damage, longer shield durations, etc. Under-inscribed accounts see artifacts “feel weak.” Track Sapphire nodes on Destiny Checklist before blaming loot RNG.
Common mistakes
- Chasing rarity over tags.
- Filling grid early with no tablet plan.
- Duplicating proc types with diminishing returns.
- Ignoring Side Bag boss swaps.
- Switching weapon branch without tag overlap mid-run.

Artifacts are Sephiria’s roguelite sentences. Shape them with tablets, punctuate with Miracles, and your grid tells a story bosses have to listen to.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many artifacts are in Sephiria?
About 300 artifacts in the 1.0 release, each with grid footprints and tag synergies for tablets and weapon branches.
Should I always equip the rarest artifact?
No. Footprint and tag synergy with tablets beat raw rarity if the shape creates dead cells or breaks adjacency lines.
Do artifacts stay after I die?
Run artifacts reset on death or clear. Permanent power comes from Destiny Inscription and Ken's talents in Bunnyville.
How do artifacts work with tablets?
Tablets placed adjacent to artifacts activate bonuses when shared tags match — see Tablet Combinations on the Builds hub.
